She was a graduate of Booker T. Washington High School, Performing and Visual Arts, located within the Arts District. She obtained her BFA in acting from Stephens College, and also trained at the British American Drama Academy. Furthermore, she was a part of six years at the well-known Dallas Theatre Center and one year with that theatre's Encore Company. Before making her big screen debut, she began her acting career at the theater.
