Sofia Margarita Vergara is a Colombian-American actress and a presenter. Vergara was the highest paid actress on American television between 2013 to 2020.Vergara rose to prominence while co-hosting two television shows for Spanish-language TV network Univision in the mid-90s. Chasing Papi (2003) was the first big acting performance for Vergara in English. In the following years, she was a part of Four Brothers (2006) and Tyler Perry's comedy Come to Jail (2008). She was nominated for an ALMA Award for the former. Her first role was as Gloria Delgado-Pritchett in ABC's comedy show Modern Family in 2009. For her role, she received four Golden Globe Awards and four Primetime Emmy Awards. Her voice-over roles include Happy Feet Two (2011) and Escape from Planet Earth (2013). Vergara was the daughter of an Roman Catholic family from Barranquilla. Her mother, Margarita Vergara de Vergara was a domestic worker, as was her father. Julio Enrique Vergara Robayo was a cattle rancher for the meat industry. Vergara was referred to as "Toti" by her five siblings, as well as a number of cousins.
