Maureen O'Hara Biography

 Maureen O'Hara was a renowned American actress and singer from Irish descent. The fiery, passionate characters she played in a number of American films were appreciated by the beautiful green-eyed beauty sporting flame-colored hair and eyes. Her beautiful look and natural beauty were well-received. Her name was renowned in Hollywood as the "Queen of Technicolor". Her portrayals onscreen were a reflection of her brave, strong spirit. She fought for respect and survival in the male-dominated world. She was always a "tough Irish lass" who did not compromise her respect and reputation to land the roles she deserved through merit. She stood up for the injustices and discrimination against female actors during her film career. She also gained numerous followers. Her autobiography, "Tis Herself", was released in 2004. The book was an honest and transparent story of her life and the difficulties she encountered as she climbed the ladder to success. She was an adventurous lady who was not afraid to perform herself stunts. She appeared as an actress in more than 60 films over the years and was the recipient of a fair amount of fame internationally. She got married in 1968 to Charles F. Blair Jr. who was a former air force pilot brigadier and chief of the air force who pioneered transatlantic aviation. O'Hara retired after few years of marriage. Blair was tragically killed in an air crash in 1978, ending O'Hara’s joy. The following year, she was diagnosed with uterine cancer and needed immediate surgery. She was eventually cured. The health of her declined in the course of time and she was later diagnosed with six heart attacks, short term memory loss and diabetes mellitus type 2. On the 24th of October, 2015, O'Hara passed away peacefully in Boise, Idaho, from natural causes at 95.
